Have you ever come across these red flags when working with brands as an influencer/creator? 🚩
It’s always important to look out for yourself by staying away from brands that could potentially scam you or cause harm to your business.

They´re offering you a discount
If the brand offers you a heavy discount, like 80% off their product- this is not a collaboration and they are treating you as a customer. The very least a brand should do is to be able to send you their free product in exchange for marketing services.
In this case, you would be essentially paying them to promote their product. This is a very common scam run by many brands catching the new wanna be influencers and the less educated ones.
Shipping is not free
If the brand offers you a free gifted item but then asks you to pay for shipping again politely decline. The very least a brand should do is to be able to send you their free product INCLUDING shipping.
No personalization
If the brand has DM´d or emailed you and has not even bothered to greet you by your name, but rather a "Hello dear" - it´s not only a red flag but an immediate turn off. It´s either a bot or a quick spreadsheet copy and paste treating you as just another number, and the brand has no experience in conducting professional brand deals. Similarly, heavy spelling and grammar mistakes should raise your concerns.
Leave a comment asking you to DM them.
Legitimate brands will contact you directly and won´t comment on your post to DM them. It is just a bulk messaging probably by a bot. Also, brands will never write you from a profile without posts, just to ask you to contact their main account. It often leads to scams and nt to promote their product.
Unprofessional email address
Keep an eye on the email address that the email came from. If the "brand" has contacted you from yahoo, gmail or other providers, proceed with caution. Big brands will never write you from a free provider.
