Windsor Hotel in Spindleruv Mlyn was our choice for one night. At first, we chose it just due to the reasonable price which included breakfast and wellness and also that this hotel is dog-friendly. A the end we landed up extending our stay for one more night because we liked it here so very much, that we wanted to stay a bit longer.
At the Hotel Windsor, we felt like at home, they have this welcoming atmosphere, nothing was a problem and everything just met our expectations (and beyond). You may think that this is how it should be everywhere ... yes, it SHOULD, but it is not always like that.
The hotel has a perfect location from where you can not even reach the center, but also easily access the hiking trails. It consists of two buildings, which first confused us and what is a little logistic minus when you go to the wellness from the main building. Although it is literally only about five meters, you do not have slippers nor bathrobe in your room and so you have to take a shower and change in the wellness itself, before going back to your room in the main building. You can be brave and just walk across, but might not be a good idea in the winter.
This was the only minus we encountered during our stay. Wellness here is smaller, but you may find a swimming pool with the counter-current, relaxation area and also an area with steam room, herbal and Finnish sauna.
The rooms are simply furnished in lighter wood, but cosy and practical enough for a relaxing stay. TV and minibar as well as spacious wardrobes. The shower is luckily also sizable, where even bigger people can fit (not like in Italy where it was so small I could hardly fit it, let alone Mathew) Our room (304b) also had a spacious balcony with some wooden seating and a nice view of the St. Peter's ski slope.
We were sort of blown away by the restaurant in all aspects. The interior, i could say, is a bit into the Scandinavian minimalist look, but still warm, cosy and comfortable. We were also excited about the selection of dishes, where there is more than enough. Everything not just sounds great, but also tastes delicious. The three-course evening menu comes at a price of 290 CZK (11,5 EUR) which contains the soup of the day (their tomato one is truly the best we've ever eaten) of course the main course, where you can choose from a large number of meals and then a dessert.
I am not Vegan in full meaning, but for several reasons, I do not eat certain foods or ingredients and I had a little trouble choosing from the menu. I asked the waitress Katka (she should get a medal) if the food could be modified a bit. There was no problem! The chef created a dish according to my wish and the next day, as soon as I sat down, Katka came, with the chef´s evening offer for me. I was really very happy with this approach and I appreciate it very much because it was complete professionalism from the team. This is not always a thing in hotels nor restaurants and so it was very refreshing.
