Motherhood is a beautiful, transformative journey that can also be overwhelming and chaotic at times.
I know, i´ve been caught in the spiral of things and so i feel you mama. In our fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the daily to do list, constantly rushing from one task to another. However, embracing slow living can be a game-changer, and not just for mothers. It allows us to savor the precious moments and find greater joy in the simplicity of everyday life.
Nobody is perfect and nobody will remember the super clean house BUT everybody will remember the feelings and smiles. Be there for your little ones, take care of yourselves.
1. Prioritize Self-Care
As a mother, it's natural to put your children's needs first, but neglecting your own well-being can lead to burnout and resentment. To be honest, i found myself on the floor, crying and in pain of a total burn out. Trying to be there for everyone all the time. To have it all clean and perfect and home made bread and run a business on top of that. So take it from me when i tell you, that you should carve out time for activities that nourish your mind, body, and soul. Whether it's a relaxing bath, a quiet moment with a book, or a leisurely walk in nature, these small acts of self-care can rejuvenate you and help you be a more present and patient mom. Because when we are stressed, we tend to snip at our loved ones.
2. Simplify Your Routines
Streamline your daily routines by identifying and eliminating unnecessary tasks or commitments. Focus on the essentials and let go of the non-essentials. This can help reduce stress and create more space for quality time with your family.
3. Embrace Mindfulness
The word "Mindfulness" became very popular recently, but what it really means is to be present. It goes against multitasking, which does no good to our mind and body. Simply do one thing at a time, without judgment and enjoy it or dive into it. when you do laundry, think about laundry. When you eat, think just about the food. When you play with your child, be fully there and not on your phone. By cultivating mindfulness, you can appreciate the simple joys of motherhood, such as your child's laughter or the warmth of their embrace.
If you find some time for deep breathing exercises or meditation, even better. It could be 5 mins before you go to bed.
4. Connect with Nature
Spending time in nature has a calming effect on the mind and body with no doubt. Take your children on nature walks, have picnics in the park, or simply sit outside and soak up the fresh air and sunshine (or rain). Sometimes, when i feel like walls are falling on me at home, i simply go out, with no plan or destination, we just walk. These experiences can help you slow down, disconnect from technology, and create lasting memories with your little ones. Just watch them run and play. Your mind will clear up and will be ready to take on other thing that will come during the day.
5. Embrace Imperfection
Let go of the pursuit of perfection and embrace the beauty of imperfection. I know dirty windows and piles of laundry look like a battle that needs to be dealt with immediately, but sometimes we get caught in cleaning and forget to listen to / play with / or just be there for our children. Recognize that motherhood is a journey filled with ups and downs, triumphs and challenges. By accepting and celebrating the imperfections, you can find joy in the present moment and create a more relaxed and nurturing environment for your family. And a great tip, ask them to help! You do not need to do it all on your own. My 1,5 year old son loves to put laundry to the washing machine, push the buttons and then claps his hands for a good job. I spent time with him, work gets done and he is content because we are "playing" and spending time together. Win Win :)
